Installing and Updating Component level drivers
Were now going underneath the hood of your Windows Operating system so to
speak. A driver is simply the software designed to interact between the
operating system kernel and the hardware component made by the different
manufacturers.
Lets get started, go to start, then control panel and then to system, Open up
the "system" folder then to the "Hardware" tab. Now click the "Device Manager"
and your in.
Things highlighted in yellow indicate a conflict and trouble. Things with a X
thru it mean the device is disabled. Click on any device and pick the update
drivers button. Microsoft has made this quite easy with the Internet Update
Feature. Your drivers will go and find the newest driver available for that
specific device.
Non Signed Driver Warnings mean that these
drivers are untested by Microsoft in there operating system. Because of the
great expense involved over half of your drivers maybe unsigned. As a Microsoft
Certified Professional I should advise against installing unsigned drivers, but
I do it. Just be very careful.
This is the quick and easy way to keep all your component drivers updated.
Anytime you suspect specfic components may be hampering performance check for a
updated driver. This might just be problem that I'll charge you to fix.
